Scenario One
In the first situation a graduate level mental health student is counseling individuals for career issues. She is giving these clients interest inventories even though she has no prior training in this area. Due to her lack of training in the matter multiple issues can arise from this. One being ethical issues, according to the ethical guidelines stated in C.2.a one should “practice only within the boundaries of their competence, based on their education, training, supervised experience, state and national professional credentials, and appropriate professional experience” (American Counseling Association, 2014). Another ethical guide line broken in this situation is the competence in the use of tests. This guideline states that the professional using the test being
